DRUMS
Juan Botero is an advanced drummer, versatile multi-instrumentalist, and dedicated educator who holds a Bachelor of Music from the Berklee College of Music. Known for his strong leadership skills and an advanced understanding of music theory, he is passionate about sharing his extensive knowledge of various musical genres with his students.
Juan brings a wealth of experience from both scholastic and professional ensembles, and he has a proven track record of guiding student musicians. He previously served as a director for Berklee’s award-winning student vocal jazz ensemble, “Point of Departure,” and acted as the drumline captain for the Mighty Hawk Band. His rich background in educational music programs includes playing drums and percussion for the Rockwall-Heath Jazz Band, the Richland Wind Symphony, the Richland Big Band, and pit orchestras for theatre productions like Footloose and The Little Mermaid.
Throughout his own education, Juan’s dedication to his craft earned him numerous accolades. These include being named a TCCBDA All-State Jazz Drummer, achieving a top score of 1 at the UIL State solo and ensemble competition, and winning the Outstanding Percussionist award for his work with the Rockwall Heath Wind Symphony. He now leverages his consistent time-keeping, real-world performance expertise, and musical adaptability to inspire and develop the next generation of young musicians.
