Noriko Kunikiyo

Piano

Noriko was born and raised in Japan where she started her musical journey.  Beginning with private piano lessons at the age of five, she also studied clarinet as an elementary school student and played in an award winning woodwind ensemble at her school.

Later, Noriko studied voice privately in high school and worked as a staff member for orchestra and opera programs in Japan.  Always on a quest to learn music, Noriko immersed herself in a musical environment.

After coming to the U.S., Noriko studied Piano Performance under the tutelage of well known pianists Dr. Anna Gliadkovskaya, Dr. Kirill Gliadkovsky, Dr. Susan Boettger and Dr. Svetlana Smolina. She has performed for master teachers Ning Ann, Rufus Choi, Lorna Griffitt and Andrzei Dutkiewicz.

Studying music at the collegiate level opened up many opportunities for Noriko. She joined the Philadelphia International Music Festival and performed at the master class, piano solo recital and chamber recital in 2015.

She has also performed at many venues here in California as well as teaching in the Bay Area and locally.

Noriko loves teaching any style of music from classical to contemporary, pop, jazz and rock.  She has enjoyed teaching music to young children, school age students, and adults with her passion and understanding for each student’s individual needs.
